Chinese New Year
In February we celebrated Chinese New Year by hearing about how the Jade Emporer named the Zodiac many years ago. Across the school we made dragons, lanterns and masks. Our Foundation Stage children can say ‘Gung hei fat choy!’
During the first part of the spring term, every year group studied a different inspirational person. The people chosen were individuals who have overcome challenges and barriers to be successful. This reinforces our school ethos to 'be the best you can be.' Children enjoyed talking about both people they know (families, local community members) and more famous individuals to discuss the different ways they are inspirational. Here are pictures of our Reception children being inspired by people from our local community.
For the second half of the spring term, we have dedicated time to teach our children specifically how to respect others and their belongings. This links closely to our school and class rules that the children are reminded of on a daily basis. We were able to really focus on how we can be respectful and children have shown this during the day through posters and class displays.
