Term: Summer 2
Topic: Life in Other Countries
This half term we will be looking at 'Life in other countries'. We will be visiting the Runway Centre at Manchester Airport where we will have the chance to look inside the cockpit of a plane and learn a little bit about planes. Our Literacy lessons will exploring different information books to learn about different vehicles and writing some exciting character descriptions. In Maths we will be practising the skills we have learnt this year, such as addition and subtractions, and applying them to a range of problems and questions.

Topic: Fantasy Land
In Reception our topic for this half term is 'Fantasy Land' where we will be looking at a range of fantasy stories including 'Peter Pan' and 'The Night Pirates'. In Literacy we will use the characters from the stories to help develop our sentences structure, use of adjectives and act out the adventures from the stories with the help of our newly transformed role play, which has become 'The Jolly Rodger'. In mathematics we will continue with our number work to 20 and beyond, develop our confidence in addition and subtraction and continue to explore money.

Term: Spring 2
Topic: All Creatures Great and Small
This half term our topic is 'All creatures great and small'. We will begin the term with a visit to a working farm, where we will explore the different habitats, see different animals and hopefully meet some new born lambs. In the classroom we will be practising our sentence writing skills when we write a recount of our visit to the farm and when we explore some different stories. In maths we will be continuing to work on our addition and subtraction skills and will spend some time looking at 2D and 3D shapes. Our topic lessons will revolve around life cycles and farm animals. Our lessons will come to life during the term when we incubate and hatch our own eggs in the classroom. How very exciting!

Topic: Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Wolf?
In Reception our topic is 'Who's afraid of the big, bad wolf?'. We will be looking at a range of traditional tales; such as Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Gingerbread Man. We will be sequencing the stories, retelling them verbally and then move onto writing the story. In maths we will continue to work with numbers to twenty and work hard on some new skills, such as doubling and halving. We will also consolidate some of our previous learning on money and time.

Term: Autumn 2
Topic: Winter Tales
This half term our topic is 'Winter Tales'. We will be looking some of our favorite winter stories, such as The Gruffalo and Stickman by Julia Donadlson. We will be practicing our reading and writing numbers up to 20; we will be trying to order these and using our addition and subtraction skills! During Literacy lessons we will be focusing on writing words and using our phonics skills.
Our Education Visit this half term will be to the Snowdome at Tamworth where we will explore a winter setting and watch a fantastic show! We may also get the chance to meet some reindeer and other animals too!
Autumn 1 Newsletter
Term: Autumn 1
Topic: CBeebies Land
This half term our topic is 'CBeebies Land'. We will be sharing lots of our favorite stories from the CBeebies range and talking about their characters, such as Postman Pat and Mike the Knight. We will be talking about the characters appearances, what they do for their job, how they act and start to look at writing some simple sentences about them. In Maths, we will be concentrating on our numbers to 20, practising our reading, writing and counting up to 20. During this term we will be enjoying a visit to Alton Towers to explore Cbeebies Land and their rides, we are all very excited!
